I’m pleased to present this year’s summer auction consisting of the remaining archives of the Ben Mildwoff collection. Ben married Lillian Berliawsky making him the brother-in-law of the renowned abstract sculpture Louise Berliawsky Nevelson. Together they amassed a vast collection of folk, decorative, and contemporary art mostly from lower east side of Manhattan during the golden time, his collection is well documented. We offer the remaining parts of this collection directly from the family which has been in storage for years. Highlights include: a fresh discovery of an oil drip painting by Jackson Pollock (condition issue) it is not recorded in the catalog raisonne but with a Cirkers storage label and scrap wood frame it smells of fresh Pollock discovery to the market.
Other highlights: several nude drawings by Louise Nevelson, rare lithograph by Pablo Picasso titled “Modele et Homme” signed and #1/75, etching by Joan Miro’ titled “Fusees1” signed and #20/40, triptych watercolor of dancing ladies by Abraham Walkowitz, large selection of watercolors and etchings by John Grillo, several watercolors by Earl Kerkam, 72” wooden abstract sculpture by Mike Nevelson (Louise’s son), other artists represented are Louise Nevelson, Ralph Rosenborg, David Burliuk, Ben Mildwoff, William Zorack, Collette Lumiere, Sylvia Carewe, Vita Giorgi, Chaim Gross, CaroleRobb, and more! Also the last of the weathervanes from his collection include a wonderful folk art wooden fish in original surface, copper ram, copper running dog, copper stylized eagle, copper cock rooster, also a 6’ vintage 19 th c. barber pole in great paint. All of the above mentioned items are part of the Mildwoff collection. We also have a great lineup of American antiques, paintings, jewelry, silver, oriental rugs, and collectibles all fresh to the market for our annual auction. Don’t miss this one!
We gladly accept absentee and live phone bidding. Don’t hesitate to contact me for more info moving forward.
My best, Bruce
